LMB NYC: Concert Calendar (April 16-22) – Furthur, Kraftwerk, Paul Simon, Greyboys, Sphongle, Brothers Past

We’ve got another big week of concerts in NYC on our hands. Furthur and Kraftwerk are back to finish off their long multi-night runs, Paul Simon makes his NYC return, Rodrigo y Gabriela step it up to Radio City, the Greyboy Allstars get set to funk out Brooklyn Bowl, Portugal. the Man heads back to Williamsburg, and Questlove is putting on an interesting show called “Shuffle Culture” with a killer slate of special guests. And if you’re more in the mood for something electronic, there are also a slew of interesting artists playing shows this week, including Four Tet, Modeselektor, Sphongle (with Phutureprimitive and EOTO), Tobacco (with Com Truise), and LMB fave Brothers Past heading back to the Bowery Ballroom. Lots going on, so dig on in…

Furthur finishes out their massive April run with a few shows at the Beacon.

Kraftwerk kicks off week two of their eight-night residency at the Museum of Modern Art.

Paul Simon hits the Rose Theater for his big NYC return.

Rodrigo y Gabriela steps up their game with a gig at Radio City Music Hall.

Questlove is curating a show called “Shuffle Culture,” which is described on the the BAM site as follows:

Ahmir “Questlove” Thompson, the charismatic drummer and producer of the Grammy Award-winning hip-hop group The Roots, comes to BAM with an immersive musical experience. Enlisting a stellar lineup of artists, Questlove and musicians perform a free-flowing playlist—a kinetic mix of songs and sounds from unexpected musical bedfellows—that celebrates and reflects our current shuffle culture.

Sounds pretty rad.

Portugal. The Man heads back to well-groomed BKNY territory at the Music Hall of Williamsburg.

The Greyboy Allstars will bring the funk to…where else? Brooklyn Bowl baby!

And as I mentioned above, there’s just a ton of good electronic dance music happening this week, all running the gamut from powerhouse DJs to live electronic improv bands on the jammier side. Check it…
