LMB NYC: Concert Calendar (April 9-15): Dr. John, Furthur, Kraftwerk, The Boss, White Denim

by -

Easter’s over and holy hell — sorry — it is an awesome week for NYC concert fans. Check this out…

Furthur — in Allman Bros fashion — is setting up shop at the Beacon Theatre for a long ass run, Kratfwerk is in town for their eight-night run of special shows at the MoMa, Springsteen is back for one more throwdown at MSG, and Dr. John is returns to BAM with Dirty Dozen Brass Band for a dip into his trove of “Nawlins funk.” And that doesn’t even touch a slew of great club shows going on this week, including Alabama Shakes, Crystal Stilts, White Rabbits, Yellow Ostrich, and an LMB fave White Denim. Boom!

Read on for some tunes and all the dirty deets…

Furthur kicks off their big ass run of shows at the Beacon tonight.

The Boss — recently seen cruising out into the crowd and swigging fans’ beers — returns to MSG on Monday for one last NYC hurrah.

After getting a great feature in the NY Times, Dr. John returns for week two of his BAM showcase, teaming up with Dirty Dozen Brass Band and a few other guests to present “Insides Out: Funky But It’s Nu Awlins.”

Kraftwerk sets up shop at the MoMa for an eight-night run, with each night dedicated to one of their eight studio albums. That sounds f-ing awesome, as long as you were lucky enough to score tickets (anyone want to take me? c’mon, show me some Computer Love).

Hot off of their huge ramp-up between CMJ last October and SXSW this March, the Alabama Shakes are back in NYC with a pair of shows in some nice-sized rooms, trying to keep their popularity rising. So far, so good.

Yellow Ostrich bring the vocal loops and focused songwriting back to NYC for a show at Mercury Lounge.

White Rabbits are back on the album/tour circuit with some good tunes.

And last but not least is a pair of shows by LMB fave White Denim, who I last saw at the Bowery last May. Always rawkin’ and not to be missed.

Read on for a bunch of other great shows to choose from, along with links and deets for everything above…
