As they did this past Halloween during Voodoo, will be diggin’ into the Frenchmen late night scene once again for two shows on the middle Tuesday and Wednesday of at The Maison. Hailing from Asheville, NC, are an instrumentally-driven, one-of-a-kind wonder band mixing rock, Malian rhythms, surf-rock and Appalachian folk. Toubab’s latest album TK2 (2011) sprouted considerably from the already first-rate musicianship displayed from the get-go on the band’s more traditional, West African rhythms of their 2006 self-titled debut. For those getting in early for weekend 2, occupying their time between the Fest or looking for some mind-bending mid-week action to keep the marathon going, Toubab, along with each night’s special guests should provide a night of uplifting sound unlike anything you’ll see all week long.
