LMB NYC: This Week’s Concert Calendar (March 5 – 11)

This week in NYC Live Music, we’ve got a special all-star cast for the “Robert Johnson at 100″ benefit at the Apollo, week II of ’s “” residency at Brooklyn Bowl, and the start of another mega-residency, the annual Beacon run. Read on for those and other NYC concert highlights this week…

The historic Apollo Theatre plays host to another big benefit show this week: ROBERT JOHNSON @ 100. The all-star lineup features , Shemika Copeland, Bettye LaVette, , , Sam Moore, Todd Rundgren, , Chuck D, Savion Glover, Pedrito Martinez Group, , and more.

Last week, Soulive kicked off their ten-night Brooklyn Bowl residency in style. Week II of III starts Tuesday with , , & Allen Stone. Other guest spots this week include: , Alice Smith, , & , Alecia Chakour & , and I swear that I saw a listing for (but that may just been a rumor). As always, pretty much anything can happen at Bowlive:

For something equally groove-worthy but much more electronic, check out at LPR.

If you’re looking for something more indie rock/eclectic, there are plenty of great options.

is back out on tour in 2012, hitting Webster Hall.

’s got one of those hip little gigs a the New York Museum Of Modern Art.

Young the Giant and Grouplove are at Terminal 5…

Young the Giant

Grouplove

We also get the return of and , two bands that busted out strong a few years back and then seemed to quiet down for a time.

And even though it’s not really my thing, Of A Revolution is doing an intimate weeklong run of show at the Bowery…notable given their size and that this is yet another long ass run of shows by a big band in NYC.

And speaking of a big ass multi-show run, the will begin their annual run at the Beacon this Friday. Expect lots of special guests and surprises, and hell, maybe we’ll even see some crossover with Bowlive guest slots this weekend. That could get very interesting.

Also of note is the return of famed Stones saxophonist Bobby Keys, playing with his band the Suffering Bastards on Friday and Sunday nights at the Highline. This should sufficiently rock.

As always, those are just the topline shows. Read on for a few more and all the links and details….
