RUMOR: Spring Awakening Festival – Skrillex, Daft Punk & more @ Soldier Field in June?

by -

UPDATE: The lineup has been officially announced. Go here for more info!

Earlier today I happened upon a half finished web page for something called Spring Awakening Music Festival. This supposed festival is slated to hit Soldier Field June 16th and 17th in Chicago. The half finished web page wasn’t up for long, so I wasn’t able to lurk the page for long, but on the page was Dada Life, Laidback Luke, Afrojack, text that read “Skrillex to headline”… and a scrolling banner that showed none other than the duo known as Daft Punk. Some of us can dream, right?

The website claimed tickets would be $90 for the two day pass, and $180 for a VIP two day pass. Check out the screenshots I got:

The only other link working was a page that showed about fifteen different partners. Upon further research, I found a Twitter handle associated with webpage that had its first three tweets on February 1st that read, “Coming Spring 2012: Chicago’s own exclusively electronic music festival.” Then, “Spring Awakening Festival 2012 lineup will be announced very soon.” Followed by, “Spring Awakening Festival 2012 will take place at a location in downtown Chicago on June 17th and June 18th.”

A quick trip over to the React presents home page, which is a primarily Midwest event management & online media company responsible for bringing acts into Chicago such as Skrillex, Zed’s dead, and Sebastian Ingrosso…just to name a few. The bottom of the page there was a link that lead to the fest’s homepage…

Haven’t heard of any official confirmation regarding the festival, but if Chicago can bag another big name festival to tag-team alongside Pitchfork, Lollapalooza, and North Coast, it will be hard to argue against Chicago musically.

Stay tuned for the latest updates regarding this festival.

I think what you came across was a test page when the site finally becomes live. Sounds great, but doubtful for some of the names included, especially Daft Punk.

  • John Benigni

This is the greatest thing I’ve ever heard. Thanks for bringing this to light, Justin

  • John Benigni

Also, I work on some websites, and I know how things get done on a test level…. so “skrillex to headline” pretty unlikely and was probably just filler text… That, plus, he is nowhere near a big enough artist to sell out Soldier Field

If you think skrillex combined with all the other people on the official roster for this ACTUAL event couldn’t fill soldier field for two days, then you’ve obviously been living under a rock. The bears can do it, why can’t some world known artists do it? Haha

you forgot to close the “paint” tab on the bottom of the daft punk screen shot bahahahahaha

    • Nick Isasi

:) I used to paint to quickly save the screen shot as a .jpg

  • Top_buzz

It’s clearly just filler content for a test site. You can even see that it says “Example Article”.

That’s an article about Example, the musician/dj from britain…hes in the picture

@b572ecbd6f14322b9b8cb8f0466eb28d:disqus Thats likely how he copied the screenshot he took. If this were a fake one he would have done it in photoshop… just saying.

  • Chstrbnnlp

Daft punk is not on the roster, that’s not to say they won’t be there, but odds at slim. Either way should make for a sick event. Also, nice photo fail xD

    how much are tickettts !?
