LMB NYC: This Week’s Concert Calendar (Nov. 21-27)

This is a week to give thanks. Thanks to family, friends, good health, good food, and…..multi-night runs in ! Yep, for some reason, this week in shows seems to be the week of two- and three-night stands including , the Cure, , and & the Family Band, just to name a few.

Here’s the breakdown of the week’s concert highlights with some video accompaniment…

Classic NOLA piano and songwriting legend, , is setting up shop at Joe’s Pub for a few nights this week. Considering his past accomplishments and overall songwriting prowess, this seems like great opportunity to catch him in a small club.

I’m absolutely loving ′s latest album, Hurry Up We’re Dreaming, and I keep hearing great things about the live show. M83 is setting up shop for two nights in NYC w/ opening. Both shows are sold out, so if you can snag tickets, consider yourself lucky. If not, I highly recommend giving the latest record a few spins.

Singer-songwriter extraordinaire, , will be bringing his acoustic schtick to City Winery on Tuesday…bound to be a good time, as always.

Hot off their latest buzzy release and pseudo indie rock stardom, returns to NYC with a show at the Bowery Ballroom.

Wednesday night, B.B. Kings goes hip-hop with Funkmaster Flex flexing his muscles on the 1s and 2s with a bunch of other 90s-era hip-hop peeps.

Another one of the weekend “residencies” is , who’ll be taking over at Brooklyn Bowl with his Family Band for shows on Wed, Fri, and Sat…. + Brooklyn Bowl = HEAT. Guaranteed.

Of course, if you need to a bit more guitar in your jamz, then the dual-guitar attack of might be an even better bet. They’ll be hitting Terminal 5 for a two-night stand on Fri & Sat, with opening.

For something a bit darker and moodier but totally classic, check this out…. will make their triumphant NYC return with a three-night run at the Beacon Fri through Sun. Nice.

(ahh, man, I love this song!)

Also on Sunday night, there’s an interesting little super group at B.B. Kings, called , featuring , , , and Cindy Blackman. Don’t think you can go wrong with a crew like that…

Of course, those are just my quick picks for the week. As always, there’s a lot more to choose from if those shows don’t quite suit your fancy. Read on for the full show listings…
