@LMBNOLA: Explosions in the Sky & Wye Oak @ Tipitina’s 9/28/11

This is one of the shows of the year if you are into experimental, dramatic rock music. For what is sure to be one of the most spectacular and bitingly intense performances to ever unfold inside the former juice shop/brothel/gym, will be blowing the gaskets out of Tipitina’s on Wednesday night. A lot of bands could learn from watching these guys, their ability to patiently build a crescendo into a rousing, larger-than-life musical exposition is just about unparalleled. My brief glimpse of their set at this year was enough to thoroughly pique my interest in the band as a live force and luckily, the Texan collective is currently touring in support of their first album in four years (aptly-titled Take Care, Take Care, Take Care) and stopping in this week. The WTUL-presented show is at 9 p.m., will be opening and tickets are available here for $19 advance and will run $21 if available at the door.
