High Sierra 2010: Newfangled Wasteland
One of the first bands I shot this weekend was Newfangled Wasteland, the all-star jamband tribute act to Beck. The set wonderfully took us through the recognizable numbers of old and dipped into some of the newer stuff that the crowd may have been familiar with. Songs like “Gamma Ray” and “Devil’s Haircut” were performed pretty well as were most of the others that made the setlist (which completely escapes me now). Anyone remember what they played? I had a blast, though. It was a great way to open my official Grandstand festival jaunt after hanging out at our camp at Big Meadow. We set up our ridiculous camp, raged a bit on some Makers Mark, and listened to The Heavy Guilt and Zach Deputy right from our camp. Then hit the main stage…
They’ll be playing post-Phish at the Shattuck Down Low in Berkeley on Saturday, Aug. 5th.
