Ticketmaster and Live Nation Merger Update

I haven’t really been following the updates on the proposed and merger, but this latest article from the AP confirms that there’s still some movement:

Regulators in the United Kingdom and United States appear likely to impose conditions on the merger of concert promoter Inc. and ticket-selling giant Entertainment Inc. now that British authorities came out against the deal yesterday.

competition isn’t driving prices or service charges down so hopefully a merger will. really it’s ridiculous, though music is priceless, and i am all for paying more a live show, i think that the studio product should be included with a concert purchase. that would rid the whole piracy problem, pay $10 extra for the show and receive a pass-code that allows you download the album. of course you could buy the download, or the album or a box set for more, but this would solve their problem. but good lord, phish it’s a given you’re paying $65 a show and that makes tour, with gas at $3 a gallon, just a lot more expensive these days….whose complaining phish is touring though, im not.:)
