Photo Fest: Phish Live from Red Rocks, Night One 7/30/09

Even though I had to rant a bit about the lack of relaxation by the band in regards to the folks that they willingly gave free tickets (sorta) and photo passes to — still retarded to me no matter how you slice it — the first night of the run at was downright fantastic. I was fortunate enough to get about 500 shots during “Divided Sky” as the opener and here are some of my favorite out of what came out. I also threw in a few lot shots for good measure.

    Great shots, Justin. The angles you can get at Red Rocks because the stage isn’t elevated make me drool. Oh, to not be staring up noses!

    And despite your complaints, the one big advantage photographers have with Phish and the “first three songs” rule is that that can give you over a half hour of shooting time!

      Actually they gave us “15 minutes” — which meant we got to shoot “Divided Sky” and that’s it. I didn’t return to the venue until the band was halfway through “Horn.”

      I’m emailing Beth at Phish today.

    last night sounds so sick. i cant believe they pulled out an esther, something that they have done on jerry’s birthday twice before. that entire second set is a keeper…they keep teasing old halloween songs, such as playing rock and roll last night, and the night before drowned from the who and crosseyed and painless from the heads…..love it….i noticed how level you photo-pass guys are with the stage. wow. gotta say im a bit jealous, and can’t wait to see how they say hasta luego to RR tonight….:)
