The final night on the first leg of Phish Tour 2009 has just started at Alpine Valley in East Troy, WI. The band opens with “Brother,” and the next text I got said “Strange opener.” I’ll say.

I still haven’t listened to last night yet but I was told the “Maze” was a monster.

Phish @ Alpine Valley, 6/21/09

Setlist:

Set I: Brother, Wolfman’s Brother, Funky Bitch, The Divided Sky, Joy, Back on the Train, Taste, Poor Heart, The Horse > Silent in the Morning, The Man Who Stepped Into Yesterday > Avenue Malkenu > The Man Who Stepped Into Yesterday, Time Turns Elastic

Set II: Crosseyed & Painless -> Down with Disease, Bug, Piper, Wading in a Velvet Sea, Boogie On Reggae Woman, Slave to the Traffic Light

That’s all she wrote folks. We’ll be back on the case in a little over a month for Red Rocks!

does anyone have a photo of Trey jamming out his five-neck guitar during the most insane Frankenstein I’ve ever seen?

There are some vids on YouTube featuring it… That said, Page bought it at my store the day of their show at the Fox Theatre in St. Louis, so I’ve got some close ups of the guitar itself you might dig.

Brother is NOT a strange opener, it’s an OLD SCHOOL opener from back in the day.
