My Morning Jacket | 2008 Tour Dates and News

My Morning Jacket - "Golden"

We’ve recently seen a slew of new announcements from My Morning Jacket — the big rock band we love to love. Gearing up for the release of their much-anticipated Evil Urges, the band will perform on Saturday Night Live on May 10th, they’ve just announced a string of European dates (plus 2 in Canada) and they’re now slated for an event dubbed “An Evening With My Morning Jacket” on Saturday, August 16, on the Great Lawn at Louisville Waterfront Park.

Not only that, we’re starting to get some nice previews of the new album. You can check out the eerie album artwork after the jump, Indiemuse posted a studio version of “Touch Me I’m Going To Scream [pt. 2],” Rolling Stone interviewed Jim James about the new album tracks, and the band also sat down for an interview with Billboard. Although we’ve already gotten a live preview of the new tunes, it’s pretty cool to get a taste of the studio treatment. We’re definitely digging what we’ve heard so far…

I’m so into these guys right now. It’s fair to say there’s a significant LMB bias towards how awesome these guys are.

Just watched the performance from Letterman with Boston tenors… um.. wow – holy sheet. That was heavy.

$40 to see these guys here in Toronto sounds good. Never heard of them until I started reading LMB. Really Like what I saw on youtube – considering people are asking $500 a ticket for Radioheads general admission tix this MMJ sounds like a good bet. Where should I start listening? Live stuff, CD’s ? Anyone?

I would def. check it out if I were you. As for tunes, you can’t go wrong with Z, which is a great album.

But honestly, if you click the links above, you can dig down into further coverage and tunes on the site. We did a podcast a while back taking some pieces of a great show they did in Louisville back in Nov. of 2005. Or, there’s the more recent NPR live broadcast from their show at SXSW.

I was at the Church on Berkeley and it might just have changed me forever. I’ve seen probably 500+ shows and that was in the Top 10 for sure. The drive to and from Ottawa in the same day was worth every second.

Their live show lacked energy, which made it boring. What a let down.
