Weekly Roundup | South by Langerado v2

One of the clear highlights from this year’s SXSW was the NPR showcase featuring The Whigs, Yo La Tengo, and My Morning Jacket at the Austin Music Hall. The show was webcast live and is now archived and available for streaming through NPR Music, and I suggest you load up all three of the sets and give the show a listen front to back.

Sam, Mitch, Dave from Earvolution.com, and myself were all second row for the entire thing and were just completely blown away by all three bands. I’ll have a little more detail in a few posts this week, and enjoy some photos in the meantime.

  • Live from SXSW 2008: White Denim @ Purevolume.com Ranch, 3.8.08
Let the music begin! The past couple days at SXSW 2008 have been geekfest central, complete with a horrible keynote interview featuring Facebook’s quasi-demigod of a CEO named Zuckerberg and a shitload of panels dedicated to building (killer) web…
  • Drymount! | Flatstock 16 Preview
Booths upon booths; a previous Flatstock in Austin. Photo by nevbrown While over 1,000 bands and countless more fans and industry insiders have descended upon Austin for this year’s South By Southwest, more than 75 of the country’s best…

  • Kraftwerk Announces Some US Dates
Back in June, 2005 right at home in Chicago, I was able to catch one of the best concerts I’ve ever attended in my life: Kraftwerk at the Riveria. I could go on and on and on about why…
  • Lotus Remix Project | Copy/Paste/Repeat
In my mind, one of the best things about a live concert is the connection between the musicians and the fans that occurs through this medium. The crowd becomes a part of the equation by adding their own energy…
  • Phish Friday | Lights, Camera, Reba
Although most of our Phish Friday posts focus on audio recordings, you may have noticed that we’ve started to change things up by posting more video footage. While audio will always be the bread and butter of Phish Friday, it’s…
  • Live from SXSW 2008 | I’m Still Alive but My Liver Isn’t
I fully intended on staying caught-up on the blog and planned on writing from Austin while attending SXSW 2008, but the truth is that I found it incredibly hard to stay on vacation and attend great concerts while also…
