The Police Announce Final Tour Dates

The Police @ Wrigley Field

Billboard reported last night that The Police were going to be announcing their final tour dates ever, finishing off their tour in 2008 with another run through the States with a brief stint in Europe thrown in the middle of it. Today, they announced the dates and venues on the tour, including stops at Red Rocks, The Gorge, and a couple major cities that they haven’t already hit on their reunion run. Elvis Costello and the Imposters are going to opening up the entire tour. And I’d start saving for this one, folks — it costs plenty to see these legends play live. I think I paid about $10 a song for my seats at one of their Wrigley Field shows last summer.

And despite the fact that they definitely owe me at least $10 back for that cheesy-ass rendition of “Walking in your Footsteps,” complete with animated dinosaurs dancing across the stage lights and viewing screens, I’m glad I got to experience this musical giant of a band that played a large part in me discovering what music is all about. They played their hits that everyone knows, they played some real musical hits that they don’t play on the radio anymore, and they played some surprises for the folks that truly loved this band inside and out. If you’re a fan at all, it’s worth every penny dollar. Read on the for dates and drop some comments if you’ve seen the latest tour.

Remember, this is your last chance to catch these guys ever. Until, of course, they decide to try and break their own tour grossing records by charging $50,000 a ticket to see one night from their year-long stint on the Moon in 2112. We heard a rumor that Rush is going to be the opener on that tour; we’ll keep you posted if we hear more.

Here’s the full press release.

Great bill with Elvis Costello. However, can’t see shelling out the huge amount of money again to see the same Police set again.
