WHAT WAS THE BEST CONCERT YOU SAW IN 2006 — and WHY?!?!?

The end of the year is fast approaching and we all know what you’re thankful for, but I’m more curious about what your favorite concert was. Also, try to exclude festival sets or anything like that — that shit don’t count…

    Festival Sets don’t count? Bogus man, that completely takes away my votes for Phil&Friends; or Public Property at 10KLF. Other than that:

    1) Family Groove Company opening up for Tea Leaf in Urbana on October 5th. Putting that band on a bigger stage really changes their dynamics.

    2) Of Montreal in Urbana during March, my first show of theirs. Absolutely incredible.

    Hmm. Saw a lot of pretty awesome shows this year.

    Death Cab in Norfolk definitely tops my list, with Belle & Sebastian and Of Montreal in NYC being tied for 2nd. The Of Montreal show was pretty poorly mixed, although it’s hard to beat the atmosphere of McCarren Park Pool.

    hmm… its a big tossup. im going to go with steve kimmock band at variety playhouse in atlanta, and bill frissell trio at bottletree in birmingham. ive seen a bunch of shows this year, but those were just tops. 2 incredible musicians and their bands, in rare form.
