Lollapalooza 2006 | Day Two, Review, Photos

Crowd @ Bisco Disco Biscuits

Thievery Corp.

Manu Chao

I’ll be honest here…

Day Two of Lollapalooza didn’t really blow me away; instead, It was like a light breeze of the lake. Get it, because we’re right on Lake Michigan…

The crowd was a lot larger on Saturday than it was on Friday.

Hung out and listened to some Wolfmother and Gnarls Barkley.

Disco Biscuits played an okay set and drew a decent crowd — nothing too out of the ordinary for them. It was fun, though — that’s all that matters.

I enjoyed a cheeseburger after waiting in line for a while. Gnarls Barkley makes people hungry, I guess…

The Flaming Lips were predictable and fun all at the same time. The songs from At War With the Mystics were awesome.

Thievery Corp. turned up the volume and got everyone trip-hoppin’ their way around the Petrillo Band Shell.

Manu Chao got the crowd rockin’ and movin’ quickly — pick it up! pick it up! – and it was quite a set to leave the night on.

I’m sure Kanye had a larger crowd but I had no interest in checking him out. Screw Kanye; he doesn’t care about Lollapalooza…

I agree with the screw Kanye comment. I got dragged to see him prance around, say “yeah, yeah, yeah” and have his DJ play a Eurythmics song followed by over a minute of dead silence. Then silence again a few minutes later. What a jerk!

I can’t believe you’re gonna call out Kanye LIKE THAT. The crowd didn’t give him what he was looking for. He brought out TWISTA and instrumentals. I could understand why he was so mad at us. Nobody really cared if they were singing along or not(not that Kanye could care or not). The DJ was stopping to look to the crowd to see that somebody, just somebody, was paying attention. Screw you bashing hypocrites

wow, so much hate for Kanye – his set was incredible! if you don’t like hip-hop that’s fine, but what Kanye & crew put out there was top notch stuff. its not his fault that the sound was totally F*CKED – none of the speakers in the back were on and THAT’S why the crowd couldn’t get into it. those speakers were BUMPIN’ for Gnarls – so the sound earlier was perfect. he even said ‘I travel the whole world and come home to my own city and you can’t even get the sound right’ – guess you weren’t paying too much attention.

kanye never said he hates white people – he said that GWB hates black people.

kanye’s set was ok. his songs from college dropout were amazing. the sound was mediocre and if i was him i’d be upset too. but really most of the stuff from his highly overrated sophomore album was about what i expected, nothing special. the flaming lips put on the show of the day, by far.
