Podcast #042 – Oysterhead @ Bonnaroo 2006 (part 1)

by -

It was on my radar as the “must-see” set at Bonnaroo 2006 and you better believe that if I was there at the festival, I wouldn’t have missed it for the world…

Oysterhead rocked the main stage on Friday afternoon and surprised everyone with how well they could actually sound by the end of the set. Musically, there are some real moments of joy in the set and it’s definitely something that needed the Live Music Blog podcast treatment.

So with that — enjoy the first half of Oysterhead’s set from Bonnaroo 2006 and expect the second half of the set out soon!

Prior to Oysterhead, I spent Friday walking around listening to a bunch of bands take themselves WAY too seriously. When Oysterhead took the stage, with Les wearing a foam-rubber pig head, I knew that at least one band had come with the intention of having fun.
Also – Les’ use of a Shure Green Bullet as a auxilliary vocal mic explained a lot about how he gets that sound.
