Bonnaroo Headliners Rumor Confirmed (Kinda)

Update (2/1/06): Bonnaroo 2006 Lineup Announced!

From Productshop NYC…

The three headliners of Bonnaroo are Radiohead, Tom Petty, and Beck!!!

Wow, Bonnaroo 2006 is going to be an interesting year with excellent choices as headliners; I can only imagine what the full lineup is going to look like. Just one thing, though–Beck? I’m not sure he can fill a full headlining spot.

Note: this is still not official. We haven’t heard anything from Superfly yet.

I'm the Editor. HOLLA.

I know the tag of “Music and arts festival” is non-descript, but this festival, like it or not, is centered around Jam Bands… If you dont like it, dont come… Sure would make traffic nicer. Being diverse is important, and I think that the folks at superfly do a bang-up job of providing a nice sampling for the masses… I have witnessed several acts that I would never buy a ticket for otherwise.

Just realize that when the sun goes down, us freaks need a place to play…

And I agree… NEVER group DMB with any respectable touring Jam Band…

Honestly, if the rumors I’m hearing are true, this could be the absolute sickest festival I’ve seen in the last fifteen years at least.

I wasn’t planning on going back to Bonnaroo this year, as I’d done it a few years ago, and I’m headed to Langerado in March. But if the rumors are true, I’ll have no choice. Radiohead put on the very best live show I’ve ever seen at Alpine Valley in 2003. My Morning Jacket put on the second best at Bonnaroo in 2004. Word on the street is they’ll both be there. If Beck, Radiohead, and Tom Petty are the headliners, they are likely to breathe new life into the festival and solidify it’s identity as THE multi-genre music festival. I’ll keep coming back if that’s the case. Three cheers for the Arcade Fire, Bright Eyes, Willie Nelson, Disco Biscuits, Sufjan Stevens, Medeski, Martin, and Wood, Common, Clap your Hands, and Wilco.

I will say that I think Beck is more of a mid-afternoon show and that I’d like to see the Dead replace them on the headliner list.

Other names I’m not hearing that I’d love to see get involved include:

    Ryan Adams and the Cardinals
    Yonder Mountain String Band
    Steve Winwood
    Jurassic Five
    Stevie Wonder
    Little Brother
    Sound Tribe Sector Nine
    Love is All
    Flaming Lips
    Modest Mouse
    The Roots
    The Wrens

Either way, I’m keeping my fingers crossed. This could outdo my last trip to Manchester.

You never know, even though YMSB is playing Telluride, they could still make it to Bonnaroo. Bela Fleck is playing at both…

I dont care what anyone says Tom Petty would be amazing and The Who would be insane, but thats just wishful thinking, but i think the ultimate headliner would be King Crimson hands down.

i think you guys think way too much about who is going to headline, the best show is always at a smaller stage and i would rather see a band that headlines big festivals by there selves

anyway bonnaroo will continue to kickass as long as mtv stays away

“ok….. the bottom line is, that dmb, wsp,the dead, and every other jam band are all the same and they suck. radiohead would be one of the best shows that bonnaroo has ever had they are a much better and more talented band…”

dude youre a total clown, if you have any type of musical knowledge you would realize that most jam bands sound nothing alike, Umphreys should headline one night, they are the next big thing.

I agree Tim, Radiohead is the best live show I’ve seen. They do amazing things. I’ve been waiting for them to come back to the states. I’d throw down that money for Radiohead alone. This might be the most memorable Bonnaroo if in fact the rumors are true.
