Bands to See Before You/They Die

by -

Over at the Chicago Tribune today (thanks Chicagoist), they’re asking the very question that I tend to answer for myself many times a week…

What band / artist do you want to see before you / they die?

Whether or not they’d ever reunite, The Police would be up there on that list for me. How ’bout you?

Oh, and just for fun, please try your hardest not to say Phish.

    My top 10:

    Pink Floyd
    Pink Floyd
    Pink Floyd
    Pink Floyd
    Pink Floyd
    Pink Floyd
    Pink Floyd
    Pink Floyd
    Pink Floyd
The Kinks (actually I saw them in 1982, but the liquor I imbibed during the show has wiped the slate clean)

And Phish of course, it’s been years since the last European tour. Sorry Justin, I tried, must the flue which still has not left my body completely. Down With Disease, I say.

May I add that I was fortunate enough to see both Dutch 1993 Velvet Underground shows? God, I miss Sterling Morrison, a very underrated guitar player. Otherwise the Velvets would have taken place 1-10.

I saw The Phish and The Pink Floyd and The The Who and The The Stones so…

The Police? Naw…I’d rather go on Oysterhead Tour.

How about…Page, Plant AND Jones for me–one of the most vastly underrated musicians and arrangers in the bidness.

Did you not catch the Oysterhead tour during 2001? I was fortunate enough to see one of the shows and I loved every second of it…(antler/whamola/noodle jam and all)

    oysterhead asheville 11.17.01 was AWESOME…glad I went.

    I’d have to say:
    Gregory Isaacs
    Radiohead
a full Les Paul show (saw a brief soundcheck – wow)
    ?? that’s all I have right now.

Another one for me would be Red Hot Chili Peppers–hopefully 2006 is the year for that…

I missed Oysterhead. At the Vegoose press tent thang, Trey & Les alluded to wanting to do it again if their schedules permit…

I would love, love, love the Oysterhead reunion if it ever came about.

I don’t think they gave it enough time, but of course, having three alpha-dogs all trying to call the shots was probably overwhelming…
