LMB Song of the Day: The Stones

Let’s kick it classic-style today, swing the hips and shake the head to Mick and Keith and company, the Rolling Bears (bonus point if you know what the “Rolling Bears” is from).

Here are a couple of my favorites — Shattered, Monkey Man, Loving Cup and Miss You.

And as an added bonus, here’s a quick anecdote: Last night I was talking about great cover songs in a bar, recounting how Keller should totally cover Psycho Killer from Stop Making Sense. And just as I was about to say how amazing Tea Leaf Green covers Velvet Underground’s I’m Waiting for the Man, the DJ kicks right into the song. Right into it. I was floored.

So in honor of that, here’s the VU version, and the TLG version.

Nice, Ace! Love the Stones! Loving Cup has always been one of my favs…track 9 on Exile on Main Street…the best album ever recorded. Always stoked to hear Phish play it…I think it’s a perfect tune for TLG to cover as well.

I was never a huge Stones guy, but I think some of their not-as-popular stuff is INCREDIBLE. These guys really rock, and they know how to rock. Professionals in every sense of the word.

Shattered is easily my favorite song, mostly because I walk around Manhattan and try to bite the big apple, dont’t mind the maggots.
