Relix has a pretty good-looking new website. It went live yesterday, while the rest of the world was actually worried about the fate of the world.

Vida Blue has announced a release of their first (but hopefully not the last) DVD, Live at the Fillmore. Yes, it is definitely Vida Blue with the Spam Allstars. I’ve yet to buy their album, Illustrated Band, so maybe I’ll pick these up together. (Phish.com)

In related ex-Phish news, Trey Anastasio will be appearing on Austin City Limits, this time with his own band. It a slice-and-dice mix of his performance at the Austin City Limits festival this past September. This will be cool, as I love this show. Check yo loc liztings bizatch! (Trey.com)

Umphrey’s McGee this NYE. I’m so there! (JamBase)

Looking for something to do tomorrow night? Go see The Beastie Boys at the United Center, the setlists and photos look hot. I’ll be on the floor moshing to Egg Raid on Mojo.

Related: NYE, Jamband Style, moe. Announces NYE (in July)

on the downlow: i can’t recommend the Vida Blue cd. their first disc was so, so good, with the space groove angle and everything. but this one was just sort of an incoherent latin jazz style, and not interesting or engaging. just my opinion. try the new MMW album (End of the World Party) — now there’s something dope … and appropriately titled!

If you’ve listened to any of the Spam Allstars shows with Vida Blue, they sound HOT live. I figured that they could roughly create the same sound in the studio though. I can imagine that the DVD would be pretty cool, so hopefully Netflix picks it up and I’ll just rent it. I already own enough music DVD’s as it is.
